Residents 3000 are pleased to invite you to our final meeting for 2020: an update on the Metro Tunnel Project.
Having continued throughout the COVID-19 lockdown with strict safety measures, the Metro Tunnel Project has reached a new milestone with two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) now making their way deep underground towards the State Library Station precinct, at the northern end of Swanston Street.
This new stage follows the recent completion of the 1.4 kilometre twin tunnels from the Arden Station site to Parkville, Victoria’s world-renowned medical, research and education precinct.
The TBMs are expected to break through at the State Library Station site in early 2021 before being moved through the station’s cavern and relaunched on their final journey towards the Town Hall Station precinct.
Our presenters will provide an overview of tunnelling between Parkville and the State Library Station precinct, including how the TBMs and support networks operate, how noise and vibration impacts are managed and what communications and engagement activities are undertaken during tunnelling works.
Our speakers for the event will be:
- Ryan Martin – Senior Project Engineer, Tunnels, Cross Yarra Partnership
- James Hamilton – Environment Manager, East and West Precincts, Cross Yarra Partnership
- Kim Norton – Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Lead, Arden and Western Portal Precincts, Cross Yarra Partnership
You can register for the event by emailing merle@residents3000.com.au. Registrants will receive a Zoom link for the meeting plus instructions for joining, and some advice regarding commonly accepted protocols for large online meetings.
Questions can be sent prior to the meeting when you register. This gives our presenters time to prepare answers.
For your diary: Thursday 3rd December at 6pm. You can come online a little earlier to ensure your tech is up to scratch and you don’t miss a moment!
